1. DEPUTY COMMISSIONER OF LABOUR, SALEM :

(Regional level officer comprising of Salem, Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri Districts)

Administrative Functions:

  • Overall administrative control over Salem, Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri Districts.

Quasi Judicial Functions:

  • Commissioner under Employees Compensation Act
  • Authority under Minimum Wages Act
  • Appellate Authority under Tamil Nadu Shops & Establishments Act
  •   Authority under Payment of Wages Act
  • Appellate Authority under Payment of Subsistence Allowance Act.

Other Functions:

  • Registrar under Trade Unions Act
  •  Conciliation Officer under Industrial Disputes Act.

2. ASSISTANT COMMISSIONER OF LABOUR, SALEM:

(Having jurisdiction of Salem, Namakkal, Erode, Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri Districts)

Quasi Judicial Functions:

  •   Controlling Authority under Payment of Gratuity Act
  • Authority under Payment of Subsistence Allowance Act

Other Functions:

  • Registrar of Principal Employers under Contract Labour Act and Inter-State Migrant Workers Act
  • Conciliation Officer under Industrial Disputes Act

3. LABOUR OFFICER (CONCILIATION), SALEM :

  • Conciliation Officer under Industrial Disputes Act over Salem and Namakkal Districts.
  • Appellate Authority under Catering Establishments Act

4. LABOUR OFFICER (SSS), SALEM :

  •  Registering of members and sanctioning of various claims under Construction Workers Welfare Board and other 16 un-organized Boards (Implementing officer of social security schemes under various Labour Welfare Boards)

5. INSEPCTOR OF PLANTATIONS, YERCAUD :

  •  Inspector under Plantation Labour Act having jurisdiction of Yercaud and Kollimalai.

6. INSPECTOR OF LABOUR (SALEM DISTRICT) :

  •   Inspecting Authority for shops and other establishments (except Factories registered under Factories Act) under various Labour Laws
  •  Inspecting Authority under Legal Metrology and Packaged Commodity Rules
  •  Authority under Conferment of Permanent Status to Workmen Act
  •  Registrar of Contractors under Contract Labour Act and Inter- State Migrant Workers Act
  •  Administrative Authority over Enforcement Officers of Salem District.

7. DEPUTY INSPECTORS OF LABOUR – 2 Nos. (1st Circle and 2nd Circle)

  •  Inspectors under various Labour Laws over shops and establishments except Factories
  •  Inspecting Authority under Legal Metrology Act
  •  Stamping Authority for Fuel Pumps ( Petrol, Diesel, LPG ) and Weigh Bridges

8. ASSISTANT INSPECTORS OF LABOUR – 8 Nos (1 to 6 in Salem and each one at Mettur and Attur):

  •  Inspectors under various Labour Laws over shops and establishments except Factories.
  •  Inspectors under Legal Metrology Act and Packaged Commodity Rules.

9. STAMPING INSPECTORS – 4 Nos. (2 Nos. in Salem and each one at Mettur and Attur)

  •  Stamping of weights and measures under Legal Metrology Act
